Finally back home, after almost 3 weeks away. I thought it would be calmer this year, however the first few weeks were already quite busy and a lot of traveling for me.
Nice to be back home and to see this view.
Off to the first trade show of the year in Hannover, a quite successful trip and hope to start some business.
to our surprise within in walking distance from our airbnb we found something very familiar, mel's diner. i didn't think it would be real deal but it was pretty close, just much smaller and a more limited menu, but the portions are definitely american sized. as it was so close, on the last day we decided to go back and have an american breakfast, the truckers breakfast, which was certainly enough to keep me full for breakfast and lunch.
the Second trade show i went to was in Paris to help a friend with her clothing brand. A fun but extremely busy trip so unfortunately didn't have much of a chance to see and explore the city. But luckily I was still able to enjoy some delicious food while i was there. Please check out my post of paris.
As i was away for the last two weekends i was very happy to finally be able to spend the weekend at home, to finally relax and take it easy, well kind of. we decided to make a day trip to salzburg as it's only a two hour drive from us.
we walked around the old town through the pedestrian streets and passed by the birthplace of mozart. there is a museum and tour but we decided to skip that this time. we were hungry so we stopped by a local Austrian restaurant, Gasthaus Zwettler's, for some lunch. a simple grilled chicken salad with zucchini and roast potatoes and meat served in pan with fried egg and cabbage salad. and to drink we had hoobert cola, a natural cola, which was actually quite good.
after we walked up the hill to hohensalzburg castle, an 11-century fortress. you can either hike up the hill or take a funicular to the fortress. it is a very impressive castle and the view from up top is worth the hike up. a definite RECOMMEND if you are visiting salzburg.
there is quite a famous cafe, Cafe Tomaselli, we tried to go there but it was very crowded. So we stumbled upon another cafe, würfel zucker for some coffee and strudel. i had to try the topfenstrudel, filled with a kind of creamed cheese. it was delicious, a good alternative to apfelstrudel.
