Life in Germany February 2018

February was a slow month for traveling but was still quite busy with a few setbacks.  It was definitely still winter here in Germany, lots of snow and blistering cold weather.

the month did not start so well as someone got a pretty serious injury while skiing so there were many doctors and hospital visits in the first few weeks.   this also meant a lot more time at home for recovery, which also meant much more home cooking.  not necessarily a bad thing.

新年快乐!Chinese new year dinner celebration.  as I do sometimes miss living in china and actually miss the chinese new year celebrations, i wanted to do something this year.  so i prepared a very simple IMPROMPTU new years dinner for some friends to enjoy and to celebrate with.   i tried some new dishes out and everyone seemed to enjoy it very much.  so i guess this will now become another yearly tradition.

menu:

  • braised mushroom and tofu with oyster sauce

  • green beans with preserved olive vegetable

  • pork and chive dumplings

  • casserole rice with mushroom and peas

  • gong bao ji ding or my version of KUNG PAO chicken

  • fish mushroom and tofu dumplings

it had snowed so much that weekend that i was able to almost make a snow angel on our balcony.

More time at home so more home cooking.
