Although I did have another half term break in February it wasn't much of a break this time as we had both a portfolio project due and an exam on the first day back at school. So there wasn't much exploring however I did finish school mid march so after that we were able to visit a few places.

after hearing several times how nice bristol was, we decided to take a quick day trip to see what all the fuss was about. We had stopped by the brunel's ss great BRITAIN, which was a former passenger ship in the 1850s that has now turned into a museum. First you head to the dry dock to see the ship's hull, it is very interesting to see this part of the ship as its normally underwater. Then you walk through the dockyard museum which explains and shows the history of the ship, the journeys it took, and some passenger stories. AFter that you walk below the deck where you get to experience what it was like to be a passenger on this ship, you see a variety of passengers cabins, dining room, kitchens and service rooms. I would definitely recommend a visit, the museum is very nicely laid out and you actually learn quite a bit.

before leaving the uk i wanted to have the most famous british dish one last time, the good old fish and chips. we had heard that whitby had one of the best fish and chips in the country so we took a quick drive there. that day ended up being an extremely beautiful and sunny day, however we were not the only ones to think to enjoy the weather. it was very busy upon arriving at whitby, everyone sitting outside and soaking up the sunshine. There were many fish and chips shops, so we just choose one, quayside. we ordered to go and ate by the sea to enjoy the view. after all that fried food we then walked around the town and up to the church of saint mary. we then walked around whitby abbey, a 13th century gothic abbey church which apparently inspired the creation of dracula. breathtaking views of whitby and the coast can be seen from here. you can definitely make a longer trip than just seeing whitby, the North york moors national park and the city of york are very close by.
