During June we had traveled back to Los Angeles, so we didn't spend much time in the UK but our adventures still continued in July.
a short drive away and we arrived at draycote lake. the day we went was truly a beautiful day, the sun was shinning and plenty of blue skies. the lake is quite nice you can either walk around or bike around as the path takes you around the whole lake. you can also choose to paddle boat or sail in the lake. we just walked around the first time but we liked so much that the next time we brought our bikes and rode around a couple times with a little picnic in between.
Next stop Manchester, we drove very early in the morning so that we could arrive at the FURNITURE exhibition on time. the exhibition was quite small compared to the ones in america and china so we were actually done quite early. we then decided to explore the city. the city is very interesting as you have many old brick and industrial buildings mixed with some modern buildings, it is truly an interesting mix that i like. and for those football fans out there they have a national football musuem that you can visit.
while walking around we stumbled upon the The John Rylands Library, which is a late-Victorian neo-Gothic building. You can walk inside the old library, it reminded me of harry potter with the ceiling work and rows and rows of books. it is also pretty cool that it is still used as a library today.
Next stop was a day trip to London. as it was a very nice sunny day we decided to walk around hyde park, we also stopped at the serpentine gallery, and walked past kensington palace. after all that walking, i think a proper british creamed tea was needed and what better place to have high tea but at fortnum and mason. i have had afternoon tea before but not the proper british creamed tea. it was quite good, a good selection of sandwiches, scones, and cakes and can't forget about the clotted cream. i Definitely would recommend fortnum and mason's afternoon tea if you have the time and cash to indulge, but its also nice to walk around the food store downstairs with a huge selection of sweets and teas. to digest some of the food we had we walked to and around buckingham palace. it was a very lovely day in london but comparitively it was a pretty expensive day trip. oh londontown why are you so expensive?
