Surprised to find that there was an indonesian restaurant around the corner so we had to give it a try.
GOHU IKAN- Maluku-style ceviche with Danish hiramasa & calamansi
SIOMAY UDANG- Homemade shrimp dumpling with our signature peanut sauce
DENDENG RUSA- Spicy jerky with local deer and rice chips
SAJI FRIED CHICKEN- Fried organic chicken wings with green sambal and pickles
MARIAH CURRY- Our homemade curry with seasonal vegetables
FISH OF THE DAY Grilled local fish served with ‘arsik’ butter, morning glory
TERONG BALAD- Sicilian eggplant cooked in SPICY sambal
KEMBANG GOYANG- Black sticky rice cream, banana pudding, fermented rice and sesame cracker
As we were dining with a group of six people, we were only offered the six-course tasting menu, which significantly made the process of placing an order much simpler for us. We were quite curious and eager to explore this culinary experience, especially considering that we had previously tried a number of Indonesian and, more broadly, Asian restaurants across Europe. Sometimes, these dining experiences can turn out to be quite disappointing, but we held onto some hope since we were currently in Copenhagen, which has earned its reputation as one of the food capitals of the world.
To our delight, the food was not only delicious but also featured a range of flavors that were both familiar and surprising. Indonesian cuisine is known for its regional diversity, so while we recognized some flavors, others were entirely new to us. It was interesting to learn that the chefs have their roots on the island of Sumatra. Furthermore, we appreciated that they made a conscious effort to incorporate local and regional ingredients, seamlessly blending them with authentic Indonesian flavors. A must try if you are in copenhagen and want some delicious indonesian food.
