what a delicious dinner, apparently it is a very well known restaurant among portuguese, all the walls are filled with pictures of the owner with many famous portuguese prominent figures like actors, politicians, football players, coaches, etc… we were told that they serve very traditional portuguese food and some dishes you would only have a chance to eat at someone’s home. we had no expectations but were was very impressed with the food and service. everything was so delicious, never eaten so much codfish in my life but really enjoyed the diversity of the dishes. but i think my favorite was the octopus, either the octopus is different in portugal or they prepare it differently, it was so tender and soft, it had more of a firm fish texture. the rice was also delicious as it had some small pieces of octopus in it. The bacalhau or cod fish dish was also very tasty and apparently this preparation is very traditional home cooking. we were quite full but we still had to have some dessert, the Rabanadas or portugeuse french toast is normally eaten during christmas time but they had it as a special, we really liked it and it wasn’t too sweet.
we were one of the last few tables there and got to meet the owner, who was super nice. A highly recommend if you are in porto, it is a bit away from the city center but it is worth the trip.
