we were having a conversation about peruvian asian food and someone recommended to try this new chinese peruvian restaurant.
Tiradito- Fresh japanese sea bream chilled in a peppery orange and lime sauce. hint of garlic and yellow chili topped with salsa criolla, sweet potato and toasted Peruvian corn
braised spare ribs- caramelized in soy sauce, shaoxing wine, golden sugar, ginger, garlic
seasonal vegetables- wok tossed fresh chinese market vegetable
lomo saltado- filet mignon wood grilled and sauteed with cherry tomatoes and onions, served over fries
Brulee char siu- wood fired pork toro marinated in house made chinese bbq sauce
anticucho- peruvian street style skewered beef heart with cilantro and serrano chili sauce
Pollo ala brasa- 1/2 chicken in 24 hour dry brine cooked over wood fire served with fries and spicy aji sauce
due to covid space inside the restaurant are limited but they have a large enough outside space which was supposed to be used for parking. they do have heat lamps for those cold la nights. as we were a party of 7 we pretty much ordered everything on the menu. i forgot to take pictures of the mapo tofu- wok cooked tofu and omnipork ground in fermented bean sauce with SZECHUAN peppercorn, GARLIC and scallion, popo’s wellness soup, and the dan dan mian- fresh NOODLES with spicy SZECHUAN sesame sauce tossed with pickled radish.
it was a wildly interesting dinner as many dishes were very FAMILIAR and others not so much and some were somewhere in between. Definitely a highly recommend if you land a reservation, let us hope they keep the high quality of service and food standard as it is easy for restaurants in la to quickly lose it and lack the consistency.
