Birthday Dinner Le Petit Chef at Hyatt Regency in Mainz

I don’t remember where i had seen this but it was obviously something i wanted to try and understandable during the pandemic it was likely not going to happen. but as things have opened up, i had a thought to see if these dinners were still happening and lucky enough they were and had something available over my birthday weekend. So we booked a table without much hesitation.

Appetizer: Burrata, Blattsalate, Distel, Radieschen, Gewürztomate (Burrata, lettuce, thistle, radish, spicy tomato).

Soup: „Malakoff Bouillabaisse“ - Pulpo, Vongole, Jakobsmuschel, Krustentierfond, Sauce Rouille (“Malakoff Bouillabaisse” - octopus, clams, scallop, shellfish stock, rouille sauce)

Soup: Paprikasuppe, Kokosmilch, Zitronengras (Paprika soup, coconut milk, lemongrass)

third course: Confierter Hummer, Queller, Miso Hollandaise, Zitrusaromen, Dashibutter (Confited lobster, samphire, miso hollandaise, citrus flavors, dashi butter)

Third course:
Quinoa, Gurke, Dashibutter, Zitrusaromen (quinoa, cucumber, dashi butter, citrus flavors).

main course: Filet vom Simmentaler Rind, gerösteter wilder Brokkoli, braisierte Karotte, Selleriepüree, Trüffel (Fillet of Simmental beef, roasted wild broccoli, braised carrots, celery puree, truffles)

main course: Spinat-Ricotta Ravioli, Kräuterseitlinge, Rucola, Pecorino (Spinach-ricotta ravioli, king oyster mushrooms, rocket, pecorino)

dessert: GEEISTE SCHOKOLADENKUGEL, GRAND MARNIER, HIMBEEREN, DULCE LECHE (CHOCOLATE ice cream, GRAND MARNIER, RASPBERRIES, DULCE LECHE).

What a wonderful surprise, we were a bit skeptical before as we thought either the food would be disappointing or the ENTERTAINMENT/show would be underwhelming. but both the food and show were done very well. For each course there was a little show on how le petit chef is going to cook the next course, it was very entertaining, funny and well thought through.

everyone opt for the normal menu but I choose the vegetarian menu, which in HINDSIGHT was a good choice because it ended up being a lot of food. of course the show was done for all the courses on the normal menu and wasn’t specific for the vegetarian menu but that was perfectly fine. The food and service was of high quality. it would be interesting if each restaurant or location does their own menu or at least interpretation of the menu and how often the menu/ show changes.

this dinner experience is definitely for a special occasion as the price is quite steep but it is an experience that you will not forget. it is a new, fun, and interactive way of dining. if you have a chance I would highly recommend going, from young to old everyone will THOROUGHLY enjoy themselves.
