Restaurant A.T Takeaway in Paris

Thankfully during a pandemic and strict curfew many restaurants are forced to offer takeaway or delivery options. Restaurant A.T has been on my list of places to try in Paris for awhile but it was always difficult to secure a reservation there. Upon looking at takeaway/delivery option I was SURPRISED but also thrilled that they were offering takeaway.

Our Dinner has arrived! One of two bags full of food that we need to plate and maybe even reheat.

Set Menu for the night which included two appetizers, one fish dish, one meat dish and a dessert. But we also ordered a few additional dishes as we were four people and also wanted to try some other things.

Foie gras with tonka, tamarind and crackers.

Who doesn’t like foie gras and the combination of the sour tamarind and the slight sweet vanilla flavor of the tonka made a perfect balance to the richness of the foie gras.

Cartagena Spanish Tuna Tartare and Black Garlic.

Now it makes sense why it was so delicious, it was the black garlic. I did not read the whole list of ingredients in this dish. I had only recently found out and tried red chicory. it was a nice addition to the dish as it added a slight bitterness and crunch which complemented the tuna and black garlic.

Saint Jacques with celery root and dill.

What a pretty and delicious dish, the accompanying sauce was so good. we could have just eaten that plain. But I am more ASTONISHED that a dish this pretty could be a takeaway dish. This is really fancy stuff.

Each dish came with instructions on how to complete and serve the dish

Marinated and smoked Banka trout with juniper, Pumpkin and Treviso.

Light and refreshing, again we did not know what the sauce was but it was really good. and we loved the combination of the pumpkin and carrot purees that added a sweetness to the dish.

Beef carpaccio smoked with hay, Jerusalem artichoke syrup and hay oil.

This was one of the favorites of the night, the beef was so soft and tender. The flavor of hay did come through but it wasn’t overpowering. I would like to recreate this but need to find some real good quality beef. I hope this dish is always on the menu as I would definitely order it again.

Pollock, Pil Pil (emulsified with fish collagen and olive oil), broccoli and Romanesco.

surprisingly also delicious. the fish was good, not dry after reheating. the sauce definitely made the dish, i am sure it had a lot of butter and cream in it.

Whole Roasted fir smoked Pigeon with Salsify.

Not a huge fan of pigeon and we were afraid that the meat would become dry but it was still very tender after reheating. but our favorite part of the dish was the fir sauce, i would have never thought to actually add fir into a sauce but it adds a woody, earthiness that compliments the pigeon.

Roasted saddle of lamb, Swiss chard and Rosemary.

we were actually quite full at this point, thankfully it wasn’t such a large portion. the lamb was nice and juicy, however there was slightly too much fat on it for us.

Flanc à la vanille (vanilla flan).

maybe it was something we didn’t notice before but seems that flan desserts are everywhere. I am not complaining, they are delicious and this one was pretty damn good.

What a fun dining experience, i actually like the fact that we had to reheat or cook some of the dishes and figure out how to plate everything. And i was extremely surprised on how good everything tasted, the immense challenge to cook EVERYTHING just to the point WHERE it isn’t fully cooked or done so that when people reheat or cook it at home it doesn’t become overcooked. The attention to detail, the flavors, the quality of ingredients were top. i DID NOT EXPECT ANYTHING LESS BUT IT ALSO RATTLES YOUR BRAIN TO KNOW WHAT IS POSSIBLE FOR TAKEAWAY OR DELIVERY MEALS. THIS ALL WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN EXPLORED IF IT WEREN’T FOR THE PANDEMIC. OF COURSE ONE DAY I STILL WISH TO BE ABLE TO EAT AT RESTAURANT A.T IN PERSON TO HAVE yet another interesting dining experience. but in the meantime while we are still in a pandemic and if you are looking to indulge a little, try something new, and have a fun and interactive dining experience at home then I would highly recommend ordering the takeaway menu. it will be something to remember.
