Taoyuan Village

Several locations

TAIWANESE style breakfast with many food options, many would say it is upscale street food. They offer a selection of rice rolls, chinese pancakes, tofu puddings, soy milk, and fried dough (you tiao). they have several locations throughout shanghai. so if you want to have a more relaxed and easy street food style breakfast then definitely check out one of their locations. you can also stop by for lunch or a late afternoon snack for the sweet tofu pudding.

Pu Tien

Several locations

https://www.putien.com/outlet-category/shanghai/

the RESTAURANT serves cuisine from south of china, from around the fujian area. they also known have several locations throughout china as well as around asia. everything you order will be delicious but their most famous dishes are the pork knuckle and yellow CROAKER fish.

Mystic South Yunnan Ethnic Cuisine (菌临云海肴)

BUilding 1, Lane 123 Xingye Road, Luwan District, Shanghai

http://www.yunhaiyao.com/

Yunnan restaurant in xintiandi that specializes in all different kinds of mushrooms. mushrooms are not in every dish but they are in many of them. they have quite an extensive menu so there is plenty to choose from.

Ba Cun liao ting(八寸料亭)

42 Hai tian Road, Fu tian, shenzhen

an excellent high end japanese restaurant in the popular area of fu tian. you will find a very high quality selection of sushi and sashimi, it can even be comparable to what you will get in japan. the attention to detail and the care taken for each ingredient is well worth the price. if you are looking to splurge and have a very delicious japanese meal then you should not pass on this restaurant.

Wei Jing Ge at Waldorf Astoria

no.2 Zhong Shan Dong Yi Rd, Huang Pu District, Shanghai

https://waldorfastoria3.hilton.com/en/hotels/china/waldorf-astoria-shanghai-on-the-bund-SHAWAWA/amenities/restaurants-wei-jing-ge.html

inside the old part of the waldorf astoria hotel is where you will find wei jing ge. they serve CONTEMPORARY chinese cuisine, specializing in Cantonese and Shanghainese. they offer lunch and dinner daily, although it is quite an exclusive place to have chinese food. so many people, us including like to come here on the weekend to enjoy their dim sum. there are obviously many dim sum places that are more affordable, even all you can eat options, but the quality of the food and service is worth the higher price.

Xin rong ji

http://www.xinrongji.cc/

the restaurant serves tai zhou cuisine, their nanyang location has two michelin stars. we have been to their previous location a few times in the past but they have moved to a newer location near the bund a few years ago. some dishes were good but some were a bit disappointing and this might be as we had to order their set menu due to the mid autumn holiday. order off the menu is the better option when dining here.

Gemma

20 Donghu Lu, Shanghai

http://www.popolo.cn/

an ITALIAN restaurant on a popular street in shanghai. the food is good if you are looking for a not so traditional italian restaurant. they have some interesting pasta and pizza options, even a nutella pizza for dessert. they also have a nice terrace area, a great place to do some people watching. we were recommended this place as someone had said it was the best pizza they have ever had, i am not sure that i agree but it was good. i have had my fair share of pizzas in my lifetime. but everything else on the menu is also quite delicious.
