Danang, Vietnam January 2018 Part 1

Our MiniMoon

January 2-6 2018

as we didn't have a honeymoon or anytime off from our first wedding, my mother insisted that we have a little honeymoon after our second one.  we were so very thankful she pushed us to do something, i guess mothers know best.  we both had good memories of our visits to vietnam and had always heard amazing things about the INTERCONTINENTAL danang (listed as one of the best or top resorts of the world), so seemed we had the perfect place in mind.  with a few rearrangements of flights we were then off to spend a couple of days just the two of us.

A nice surprise when we arrived!

Day 2

January 3 2018

UNFORTUNATELY we weren't blessed with the best weather, but we still made the most of our time.  we explored the resort and then had a nice relaxing massage in the afternoon.  it was actually good that the weather wasn't so nice as it really forced us to take it easy and just relax, which isn't so easy for us to do.

Hot Tub in the Pouring Rain

after exploring the facilities, we wanted to escape from the rain and had some lunch at the L_o_n_g Bar.

Some Hot Apple Tea with Cinnamon to warm up

Feta Cheese and Watermelon Salad

Then we had a nice relaxing massage at the harnn heritage spa.  a must try!  they have a huge selection of treatments to choose from.  upon arriving at the spa reception you are welcomed with some warm tea and friendly smiles then you are whisked away in a caddy to take you to your private treatment hut.  we both really needed a massage so it was well worth it.  so peaceful and relaxing and the service was exceptional.

finally for dinner we went to the barefoot restaurant for a Fisherman's net night, a seafood feast!

First Round- Sushi and Cold Seafood

Third Round- Mussels, Squid, Large Prawns and Local Fish

Final Round- Dessert

I am usually not a huge fan of buffets but after taking a look at how fresh it all looked, without hesitation we decided to indulge ourselves with as much seafood as we could possible eat.  it was delicious, there was such a large selection of everything, seafood plus many other treats.  i could have eaten more but i tried to refrain myself.  if you like seafood then this is the way to go, but they only offer it one night a week.

Second Round- Variety of grilled fishes and pork belly.  I also tried Stingray for the first time, it was a very interesting taste and texture.

Fourth Round- Shrimp and Clams

Day 3

January 4 2018

another rainy and overcast day, but we had another good day just hanging around the hotel.

Pho for Breakfast. Yes please!

A walk around the beach and found many tiny crabs along the way.  then had a bit of a swim and lunch by the pool.

Rainy Pool Day

we went back to room and i had a great idea of having afternoon tea and some fruit on our terrace but we were quickly INTERRUPTED by the monkeys.  the resort is on a PENINSULA on monkey mountain, therefore there are many monkeys around the resort and explains the monkey decor all around the resort.  these monkeys were not shy about getting what they want which in this case was my fruit.  Thankfully i was quick to run into the room and observed these funny animals from inside.  this was our first encounter with them but we had seen many of them sitting and swinging around the resort.  such funny and interesting animals.

lastly this night was extra special as were dining at the 3 michelin star restaurant at the resort, la maison 1888 by pierre gagnaire.  click link to read more about our experience.
