Before school started I decided to take one last trip and to also get my UK student visa, so a week in Paris sounded great.
Eat, walk, eat, walk, eat, walk, sleep...this was the routine for the whole week.
Day 1 September 9 2016
Just wondering the streets of paris, it is truly a great city to just wonder around and explore. different things to see at each corner. we walked through a few of the passages, walked up towards sacre-coeur basilica and got there at the perfect time, just as the sun was setting. and you can't forget about the food, that is why you come to paris is to eat and i am sure i will be doing a lot more eating in the next few days.
Day 2 September 10 2016
As my friend lives in the suburbs of Paris, it was actually nice to get away from the city and see what its like to actually live near paris but not in the ACTUAL city center. as traffic and roads are quite bad in the city, many people get around driving scooters and thats how we managed to get around. It was a bit scary at first but held on tight and off we went. we ended up having a lovely, quiet lunch in his garden in the sun and then a little walk in the woods to enjoy the rest of the sunshine. we scootered to a nearby park, park de saint cloud but found out that it was already closed as they were setting up for a firework show that night. we looked online to find more information and found out that it was a firework competition show, it definitely sounded very interesting so we bought tickets. what a wonderful and serendipitous evening, what an amazing show. many different types of fireworks orchestrated with different songs and music. it was a unexpected treat. then back to the bustling city, what a contrast to what i had experienced during the quiet day.
Day 3 September 11 2016
more wandering the streets of paris but to the more touristy areas, around the louvre museum, jardin du tulleries, champs elysees, arc de triomphe. then some fancy cocktails at the rooftop bar at the PENINSULA to end the day.
Day 4 September 12 2016
as my parents were not arriving until the late afternoon, i decided to wonder around by myself in the morning. i had heard from a few people that the flea markets of paris were very interesting, so hopped on the underground and explored the marche aux puces de saint-ouen and clignancourt. as it was a monday it was quite quiet but still had many interesting things to see. they had everything from jewelry, furniture, toys, sculptures, paintings. after that i walked through a few more passages but most of the shops were closed as it was monday then i ended up at the palais royal, which is always a beautiful place to walk around and people watch ;) the first dinner in paris with my parents was at benoit. to read more about our dining EXPERIENCE at benoit, click on the link on the right.
