our last night in alicante, we wanted something good but also simple and casual.
HEARTS OF LETTUCE BAKED WITH PARTRIDGE IN AN ESCABECHE PICKLE SAUCE
Quick roasted lettuce hearts, served with an emulsion of beetroot and mango vinaigrette
STEAMED “ALMA” MUSSELS IN BROTH
GRILLED VEAL SWEETBREADS
Crunchy sweetbreads served with a warm emulsion of tuna and confit of spring onion.
ONION CALAMARI WITH KATSOBUSHI.
Potera squid prepared with onions and simmered with flakes of exquisite, Katsobushi smoked tuna
COCA FLATBREAD WITH BRAISED TOMATOES
caramelised pumpkin angel hair and marinated eel
CHEESE CAKE
Made with Idiazabal Basque cheese, soft-baked and served with candied figs and toffee
the menu is quite extensive, so there is a huge variety of dishes to choose from, maybe a bit too many choices. after so many days of eating out i had noticed that we weren’t eating so many vegetables, more seafood and meat, So i was happy to see some salads on the menu. the mussels were fresh and delicious, the grilled sweetbreads were really tasty but our favorite was the FLATBREAD with an interesting ingredient of sesame oil powder for an unique flavor combination that i would have never expected or tasted. a definite must order. not only is the food interesting but it seems they are also quite famous for their cocktails, next time we will have to try some.
