we thought to go out for new years eve but to somewhere simple and close by.
Smoked salmon Sabayon and caviar
with “everything” Gougeres
Scallop Crudo with winter citrus and persimmon
Marinated Foie Gras with smoked pear and shallot
Agnolotti with collard greens and hazelnuts
Gluten free SPAGHETTI
Lobster with celery root and chestnuts
Grilled Short rib with parsnips, creamed endive and black truffle
Coconut panna cotta with winter citrus and lime leaf espuma
Chocolate layer cake with roasted squash ice cream and rooibos
we were recommended by a friend but were a bit disappointed, it could have been as it was a special evening and things maybe didn’t go as planned or as smoothly as they had wanted to. like the timing of the dishes, we had the second seating and the last few dishes were rushed out, dessert was served just right before midnight. they should have started serving us sooner and therefore finished dessert and had some time to chill before ringing in the new year. the dishes were good, it started out quite interesting with the petit fours of smoked salmon Sabayon with caviar and with “everything” Gougeres then the scallop crudo but then the rest was a bit disappointing, the remaining portions and flavors were a bit off. The foie gras was a large portion for one person, we took half of it home. the agnolotti was pretty delicious but then the collard greens were so salty, almost inedible. The lobster was overcooked and by the time it got the short ribs we were all pretty full, most of us didn’t finish. then dessert was a bit rushed and the timing was off. i hope it was an off night, that maybe one day we will give it a try again.
