Leben in Deutschland Dezember 2019

This is one of my favorite times of the year and I think for everyone in Germany as the Christmas spirit is all around.

with the holiday season and friend visiting from America it seemed like this month just passed by. We visited several christmas markets, some familiar ones and some new ones and of course we ate and drank the holiday season away. the point of the holiday season is to INDULGE and spend time with family and friends.

First stop was the christmas market in Bad Hindelang. we were HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to visit and as they are only open for a selected few weekends, we had researched and had already booked it a couple of months in advance. The first morning we did a walk around the hotel, wished the weather was a bit nicer then after that we headed to the christmas market. you do have to pay an entrance fee of 8-10€ depending on the day you go, which i found a bit much for what you ACTUALLY get to see, do, eat and drink. we were told that this was a very special christmas market, but the only thing that we found different or interesting were the blacksmiths but other than that many of the gifts and speciality items you can find at other christmas market, and the food selection was also quite DISAPPOINTING. if you are in the area and the market is open that day then you should stop by, but it is not worth the trip to just go for the christmas market.

the weeks leading up to christmas was of course visiting as many other christmas markets as possible and enjoying the holiday season. We of course stopped by the christmas markets in münchen and we definitely ate and drank our way through many of the stalls. the next two christmas markets we stopped by on our way to wiesbaden, ulm and nürnberg. both nice in their own way but this year in general it has been quite a warm winter, so it is a bit strange to be drinking glühwein or any hot beverage when it isn’t freezing outside. and the last and probably the prettiest christmas market was the wiesbaden STERNSCHNUPPENMARKT. i do love christmas markets but i am also glad that they only once a year, too much eating and drinking and money spent.

then it was some easy going days at home in WIESBADEN during christmas and boxing day, then it was back to Munich. we went out for a nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary but other than that it was pretty easy going. we then for new years eve cooked a bit of feast and watched the fireworks around the lake. a better celebration than the previous year, so also hoping that 2020 will be a better and luckier year for us.
